How to use in the field
Print this page on letter paper at 100% scale. Confirm the black square measures exactly 12" x 12" with a real tape before you rely on it.
Cut around the marker or fold the ruler along its outline — either works.
When shooting the raised beam / spa / veneer, hold or lean the marker flat against the surface you want measured, in the same plane as the wall.
Fill the frame — get close enough that the marker is clearly readable but the whole feature is still in the shot.
Shoot straight-on, not at a steep angle. The AI can correct small perspective distortion, but it needs to see the marker's true square shape.
No printer? Any of these work just as well: extended tape measure (best), iPhone laid flat, a standard 8"x16" concrete block, a dollar bill, or your shoe next to the wall.
